Jaali Launches AI-Enabled Solutions Built Precisely for Higher Education
AI that campuses control, in apps that evolve with them
READ THE ANNOUNCEMENTNEW YORK — October 14, 2026 — Today at EdTech Week, Jaali launched by sharing AI-enabled apps developed in partnership with faculty and staff at select higher education institutions. Jaali designs and deploys solutions to address specific operational challenges that existing tools fail to meet effectively, whether due to cost, complexity, or security limitations.
A key component of Jaali’s offerings is a secure AI platform that allows institutions to reshape apps as they see fit while ensuring deployment adheres to the institution’s AI governance. Jaali helps campuses move from fragmented, siloed AI experiments to a secure, campus-wide AI strategy.
“Ultimately, our goal is to help free staff from tasks that shouldn’t demand so much of their attention, so they can spend more time on the work that matters most: achieving the mission of the institution and serving students,” said Dr. Garikai Campbell, Chief Executive Officer of Jaali.
The explosion of AI tools has higher education leaders managing an expanding set of risks, issues, and decisions related to data privacy, model choice, shadow AI, and where best to have humans-in-the-loop. At the same time, the software institutions already own often leaves gaps or forces staff to work around the tool (instead of the tool following how users need to work). Jaali addresses these challenges. Each Jaali app solves a specific pain point, grounded in the institution’s policies, data, and documents, and deployed under centralized governance.
Traditional customization only allows changes a vendor chooses, but Jaali’s AI platform lets institutions add and modify the features they decide need changing. The platform does this while protecting privacy, security, and accessibility, honoring human judgment and fairness, and maintaining transparency and control. Moreover, Jaali makes it easy for users to follow best practices for updating apps, including tracking changes, engaging in version control, and reverting to former builds if necessary.
“Every Jaali app is AI-enabled, but how much AI is used, in what ways, and where people stay in the loop are the institution’s decisions,” Dr. Campbell added. “Jaali’s secure, no-code approach makes it easier for institutions to build and use solutions without having to master new technologies. Campuses can choose which models to use, set quotas, and control ongoing AI costs.”
Jaali is looking to expand the list of campus teams it works with to build solutions. This launch is also a call to postsecondary institutions that not only want to build and develop solutions together, but, most importantly, also want to strengthen staff capacity and staff AI fluency, empowering teams to focus on high-value, human-centered work.
The incubation and launch of Jaali builds on critical, ongoing co-design work AQL Labs engaged in with faculty and staff at several postsecondary institutions, alongside insights from a cohort of California postsecondary institutions partnering with AQL Labs. Apps in development span accreditation, academic scheduling, advancement, human resources, and budget management. This early work focuses on easing high-friction administrative tasks where dedicated software falls short, even as AI features are added to existing tools.
Jaali was incubated out of AQL Labs’ Studio, the solution-development arm focused on pioneering innovations the sector needs. This work builds on AQL Labs’ Foundry practice, which partners with presidents, chancellors, and cabinet-level leadership to address operational bottlenecks and impediments to greater equitable success by designing practical implementation solutions to recurring and entrenched campus challenges.
